Who's Really Listening?
There’s a phone in every hand, but who’s really listening?
Why bother listening when no one is even talking.
I know you know what time it is, but do you have time for me?
I’d like a few words with you, but can you even hear me?
Look carefully. Are you capturing a moment? Because I don’t think you can see me.
Is the image even real or just an illusion plastered on your screen?
You’re so into your phone, but you’re not really into me.
We made ourselves “accessible,” but do you even know me?
Let me tell you who I am. I am…here for you, and I want to know who you are. We come from the hands of the same Creator, therefore your voice matters. You matter.
You see, I am a writer. I write stories. I write non-fiction. I write fiction. I write about now. I write about then. I write about what’s important and what’s relevant. I write about what is and what was. I write about today and yesterday. I write about me. I write about you. I write with my pen. I write with my voice. Yes, a pen can be your mic. With it, your words can speak volumes, raise the roof, shatter glass, remove walls and even break down stereotypes.
So will you put down your phone and just talk to me? Don’t forget: my pen has ears, so go ahead and share your voice loud and clear.
